THIS STUDY EXAMINES THE PROCESS IN WHICH THE SCRIPT OF A 1987 TELEVICION DRAMA “PRISANA” WAS WRITTEN AND USED FOR PRODUCTION, LOOKING SPECIFICLY AT ITS VARIOUS ELEMENT, THE WRITING STYLE, AND THE WAY IT WAS REVISED FOR PODUCTION. THA STUDY ALSO DISCUSSES THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE SCRIPT AND THE FINAL PRODUCTION. DATA WERE COMPILED FROM SEVERAL SOURSES INCLUDING PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF THE RESEARCHER WHO WAS THE WRITER OF SCRIPT, AN INTERVIEW WITH THE PRODUCER, AND AN ANALYSIS OF RELATED DOCUMENTS AND VIDEOTAPES. THE STUDY SUGGESTS THAT A SCRIPT IS WRITTEN TO BE PERFORMED. TO WRITE A T.V. DRAMA SCRIPT OUT OF A NOVEL, THE WRITTER NEEDS TO ADD DETAILS AND MAKE THE EVENTS MORE PLAUSIBLE SO THAT THE AUDIENCE CAN UNDERSTAND AND BE CONVINCED BY THE STORY. NEVERTHELESS, THE FLAVOR OF THE ORIGINAL WORK SHOULD BE MAINTAINED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. THE SCRIPT IS COMPOSED OF SIX ELEMENTS : PLOT, CHARACTER AND CHARACTERIZATION, THOUGHT, DICTION, SONG AND SPECTACLE, ALL OF WHICH SHOULD BE RELATED AND COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER. WHEN THE SCRIPT IS USED IN A PRODUCTION, IT IS USUALLY REVISED SUBSTANTIALLY. GENERALLY, THE SCRIPT WRITER IS NOT AWARE OF THE CHANGES UNTIL THE DRAMA IS BROADCASTED. SUCH SCRIPT REVISION. WHICH CAN IMPROVE OR WEAKEN THE SCRIPT, MAY BE DEMANDED BY THE DIRECTOR , THE ACTORS, THE SWITCHING DIRECTOR, AND THE STAFF, ‘AS WELL AS OTHER UNANTICIPATED PROBLEMS.
