The purpose of this project was to develop an elderly club model. There were 3 phases of study. In phase 1: The status and problems of the elderly clubs were studied. It was conducted by interviewing the 197 elderly and the 21 leaders of elderly clubs in 4 parts of Thailand. At the end of the first phase, the conceptual framework of elderly club model was formulated. In phase 2: The elderly club model was constructed by using empowerment concept to promote and enhance the elderly’s ability to take charge of their life and their community. Workshop of 19 experts was held in order to validate the constructed model. “PLUTALUANG ELDERLY CLUB MODEL” was named. Later, In the final phase, the efficiency of the model was evaluated in terms of knowledge, health behavior, leadership of the elderly, and prevention/decrease their loneliness. The participants were able to direct, and manage the club effectively. The development of elderly club model was fulfilled. The “Plutaluang Elderly Club Model” was a design or structure in which identified the following component of elderly club :1) A purpose of establishment of elderly club 2) How to conduct (at beginning, to forward, and to go afterward) 3) Attribute of the members. 4) The main activities and 5) A suitable location of the club.
