Purpose The purposes of this study were as follows: 1. To study self-concept of Prathom Suksa Five students who have engaged in group process activities. 2. To compare self-concepts of students who have and have not engaged in group process activities. Procedures Sixty Prathom Suksa Five Students of Sri-iam Anusorn School in Phrakhanong District, Bangkok Metropolis, in the academic year 1985 were selected as samples of the study. By means of random sampling thirty students were selected as an experimental group and another thirty students as a controlled group. Pre-test scores of self-concept of the two groups of students were not significantly different at the level of .05. The researcher designed eleven group process activities which aimed at developing positive self-concept. The experimental group was engaged in the group process activities for thirty-three periods (20 minutes for each period) while the controlled group was left natural. After the treatment, the two groups were asked to do The Piers Harris Children’s Self-Concept Scale (Adapted form). The self-concepts of the two groups were compared by using t-test. Results 1. The experimental group gained higher positive self-concept than did the controlled group at the level of .01. 2. At Post-test, the experimental group got higher positive self-concept at the level of .01. 3.There was no significant difference between pre and post tests of the controlled group. 4. From the students’ reactions to the questions, it was found out that self-concepts of the experimental group have changed positively in many ways whereas self-concepts of the controlled group remained the same.
