Journal Impact Factor

Impact Factor (IF) was developed by Thomson Reuters as an index to indicate the quality of journals. It is calculated based on the frequency with which articles published in a journal are cited within a two-year period (according to the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) year).

An IF of 1.0 means that, on average, articles published in this journal in the previous one or two years have been cited once.

When assessing the quality of journals using the IF, it is important to compare the IF within a group of journals in the same field. This comparison allows you to determine whether a particular journal has a high IF or ranks among the most influential journals in that discipline.
