This quasi-experimental research aimed to test the effect of symptom management program focusing on praying on pain of terminal cancer patients. Study sample were 60 terminal cancer patients who were treated at Arokayasala Wat Khampramong, Skon Nakhon Province. The subjects were divided into control group and experimental group. The control group received routine nursing care, while the experimental group received routine nursing care and the Symptom Management Program focusing on Praying. The program was based on the Symptom Management Model (Dodd et al., 2001) and praying as part of complementary concepts that comprised of four sessions: a) symptom experience assessment, b) knowledge providing, c) symptom management training and praying, d) evaluation phase. The Wong-Baker face pain rating scale was used to measure the collected data. Furthermore, Independent t-test was used to analyze comparison of data between the two groups. The major findings showed that: 1. The 4 days and 7 days pain of experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group (p<.05). 2. The 4 days and 7 days posttest pain of the experimental group were significantly lower than that of the pretest phase (p<.05).
