This study examined relevant factors relating to residential facilities which had an impact on international undergraduate students’ choice of housing at Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi campus Bangkok, Thailand. All fully rented buildings near the campus were studied with respect to facilities offered, especially the quality of basic facilities. Students’ satisfaction with each facility was measured via questionnaire. Questionnaire items included three main criteria to determine students’ satisfaction level with housing facilities: 1) their overall opinion of the quarters, 2) the student’s efforts to find a new rental accommodation with similar facilities to their previous one, and 3) length of stay. The students’ answers about which facilities were important based on these criteria were verified by scores in the satisfactory range. The survey distributed questionnaires to 300 undergraduate international students, the majority of whom (43%) were Chinese. It was found that differences in gender and nationality had no significant impact on choice of residence. The participants were four groups of students from four continents: Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America with the focus on those who preferred to rent for more than a year. The findings indicate that living on-campus was the top priority with main concerns being room size and safety, followed by hallway space, public areas including recreational facilities, for instance, whether exercise facilities had sufficient equipment. The second choice of student residence was the GVC which is an off-campus dormitory administered by Assumption University. The reason this facility was less popular was due to its high rental costs. However, the fact that it is administered by the university made it the second most popular choice for student housing.
