The purpose of this study was to investigate health care behavior during menopause period of women in rural-urban areas, Ratchaburi province. The relationship between health care behavior and demographic, socio-economic and other health-related factors were also examined. Six hundred women of all marital status, aged 40-59 were randomly selected from 3 districts; Muang, Ban Pong, and Potharam to be interviewed through the use of questionnaire by health personnel. Results revealed that majority of sampled women were in age group of 40-44 years. Three-fourths were married with presence of spouses, more than half had only primary education or no education at all. Majority of urban women was employed in government service or State Enterprise. Hie majority of women had average monthly income of 5,000 Bath or less with the average of family income of 15,330 Bath. More than half of women still have regular menstruation. The average age of menopause was 48.9 years. More than half did not know about menopause clinic. Majority of women obtained middle-level scores on health care behavior. Urban women were better than their rural counterparts in terms of knowledge on menopause and health care. When relationship between health care behavior and demographic socio-economic and other health factors was analyzed, it was found that residential areas, education, occupation, marital status, income, knowledge on menopause, sources of knowledge, attitudes toward menopause and type of health care services affected women’s health care behavior, as hypothesized while age factor did not support the hypothesis. Factors on physical and mental health had no effect on women’s health care behavior.
