ปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการยอมรับการเปลี่ยนแปลงพันธุ์ข้าว จากพันธุ์พื้นเมืองเป็นพันธุ์ส่งเสริม : ศึกษาเฉพาะกรณีเกษตรกรในเขตอำเภอไชยา จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี / รัตนาวดี บูรณภิวงศ์ = Factors affecting farmers' adoption of replacing native rice varieties with the recommended one : a case study of the farmers in Amphoe Chaiya, Surat Thani province / Rattanawadee Buranapiwong
Rice, one of the most important economic crops of Thailand. It is not only the principle food for Thai people and also is the country’s chef export. Today, the rice production of Thailand per rai one the average is comparatively low and it’s quality does not reach the standard and the price is decreased. One reason of low product is that farmers have still used the native varieties. Therefore, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives organized a project in the South to replace the native rice varieties with the recommended one in order that it will bring about more rice product and high quality. This study was designed to fulfill two objectives. 1. To determine the relationship between (a) the exposure to the recommended rice varieties information, (b) the credibility of the agriculture extension workers, (c) the knowledge on the recommended rice varieties, (d) the developed agricultural technology and the farmers’ adoption of the recommended rice varieties. 2. To assess the significance of each factor which exclusively answers the degree of differences of the farmers’ adoption of the recommended rice varieties. A sample of 300 farmers were selected randomly from 3724 total population living in Amphoe Chaiya, Surat Thani Province. All of the selected farmers were individually interviewed according to the pre-arranged questionnaire. Frequency distribution, Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. The results of the study are as follows 1.The exposure to the recommended rice varieties information, the credibility of the agricultural extension workers, the recommended rice varieties knowledge and the developed agricultural technology are significantly and linearly correlated to the farmers’ adoption. Particulary, the highest correlation is found between the developed agricultural technology and the adoption of rice farming innovation (r=0.66) 2. Considering all the factors that affect the farmers’ adoption, the developed agricultural technology is the most significant variable to explain the differences of farmers’ adoption of the recommended rice varieties. The less significant variables are the frequency of exposure to the recommended rice varieties, the frequency of exposure on the same subject, the credibility of the agricultural extension workers and the frequency of the group meeting. The empirical data have shown that communication of innovation has more impact when there is adequate knowledge and use of developed agricultural technology. Technology. Therefore, promoting knowledge and use of innovation become a major recommendation adoption programme.
