To investigate the operation of academic tasks of secondary schools with academic excellence under the Basic Education Quality Project of the Educational Testing Center. The population was school directors and deputy directors for academic affairs, heads of academic strands which are Thai, English, mathematics, sciences, and social sciences. The samples were teachers who taught in those 5 academic strands and they were chosen by purposive random sampling. A checklist questionnaire was used to collect data. Frequencies, percentage and content analysis were used to analyze the data. The results are presented in descriptive form and tables. Research findings were as follows : 1. In terms of curriculum and curriculum administration, the schools prepared teaching personnel, assigned teachers to classes, prepared teaching schedules, provided teaching materials, followed up and assessed the curriculum implementation. In addition, the schools publicized the curriculum for the parents and the community. The school administrators encouraged their teachers and school personnel to learn how to construct school curriculum, and organized in- school supervision and follow up on the curriculum. The administrators jointly worked with the teaching personnel to construct school curriculum, and the teaching personnel would teach the curriculum as planned. Those who were involved in this were the deputy directors for academic affairs, header of academic strands, and the directors. Problems arose from a lack of teachers, a lack of consistent supervision in curriculum implementation. 2. In terms of teaching and learning instrucational the schools provided extracurricular activities, media, and remedial classes. Those who were involved in this were teachers, header of academic strands,and the deputy directors for academic affairs. Problems arose from too many students in classes and a lack of instructional media and equipment. In addition, the students had too many classes to attend so they did not have time for remedial classes. 3. In terms of in-school supervision ,school set an in-school supervisory system, while the administrators provided necessary equipment, budget, They also prepared their teachers for in-school supervision. Those who were involved in this were the deputy directors for academic affairs, the in-school supervision committee, and teachers. Problems arose from a lack of expertise in this area and a lack of cooperation from school personnel. 4. In terms of measurement and evaluation, the schools set up guidelines for measurement and evaluation and learning according to the 2001 Basic Education Curriculum. The administrators set up workshops regarding the construction of evaluation effective tools for teachers. They also promoted the development of assessment systems and techniques, provided advice and supervised the evaluation. Those who were involved in this were teachers, deputy directors for academic affairs, and the school committee. Problems arose from insufficient time for supervision. 5. In terms of education quality assurance, the schools had a system, criteria, and procedure for assuring education quality. The administrators trained teachers regarding effective education quality assurance, developed methods for assuring education quality, and gave advice in this area. In addition, they supervised the education quality assurance procedure Those who were involved in this were subject coordinators, teachers, and the deputy director for academic affairs. Problems arose from a lack of an expertise education quality assurance system.
