The objective of this research was to study the effects of not complying with the corporate governance and the production standards towards consumers' attitudes and the intention to buy. A researcher had applied the corporate governance of the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the production controlling system of Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) as a basis of the research framework and the research hypotheses. Questionnaire was used as the mean for the data collection from 400 peoples. The technique was judgmental sampling. The samples must be above 15 years old and have lived in Bangkok Metropolitan. The samples were divided into 5 age groups which were 15 – 25 years old, 26 – 35 years old, 36 – 45 years old, 46 – 60 years old and above 61 years old both males and females. The majority of the samples were females (51.8%), in the age group of 46-60 years old (27.5%), single (57.8%), had bachelor degree (54%), working as companies’ employees (34.8%) and average monthly income lower than 15,000 THB and more than 60,000 THB in an equal proportion (22%).
The hypothesis testing found that occupation and income were related to attitudes’ toward non-compliance with the corporate governance and the production standards with statistically significance at 0.05 level. The data analysis of the effects of not complying with the corporate governance and the production standards on consumers’ attitudes by using factor analysis technique were classified into new five factors. The factors that affected consumers’ attitudes were corporates effectiveness, corporate clarity and corporates trustee with statistically significance at 0.05 level while the other two factors, production safety and business standardization had no impact on consumers’ attitudes.
This evidence could imply that consumers might not realize and interested in the importance of safety in production as well as the corporate governance and the production standards. Regarding the attitudes of consumer it was found that the corporate preference and the corporate social responsibility were related to the purchase intention at 19.5%. This study indicated that non-compliance with the corporate governance and the production standards affected consumers’ attitudes and the purchase intention. Therefore, corporate executives should apply the research results by implementing corporate governance more seriously and improve their product quality in order to build trust and the corporate’s image.
