SUMMARY
Connectivity infrastructure in the Greater Mekong Sub-region and ASEAN is developing through the transportation logistics of its economic corridors. Corridors which stimulates trade and investment, also promotes efficiency in business as well as time and cost improvement. The establishments of transport and economic corridors have a multiplier effect on society and the economies of the sub-region as it creates the necessary hard and soft infrastructures. The corridoralso establishes the linkages for production and the supply-demand chain in the region for international businesses to grow and expand. For SMEs, the connectivity of networks is an opportunity as well as challenge in accessing to the global land regional value chain.
The more collaboration for business between Thailand and the CLMV countries, the more it is expected that SMEs move towards to creating added value activities, in order for SMEs to penetrate market and access to the global and regional value chain. Strengthening the transportation logistics is a significant factor for building the connectivity and the economic integration of the ASEAN Community. The business and economic rationales to instituting the integrated system management of transportation will be key to the successful operations in the long term period. SMEs as the bulk of economy in the region including Thailand and CLMV, should engage actively and to form mutual partnershipswith larger enterprises. SMEs will not only survive but could become formidable strength to compete in the world market today and in future.
