SUMMARY
This research objective is to study European tourists’ motivations, needs and preferences for Voluntourism participation in Thailand. The samplings of this study are European tourists who have visited Thailand in the past 3 years. The motivator that most influences the European tourists’ Voluntourism participation in Thailand is that the Voluntourism could make them feel important and worthy while participating in its activities. Obviously, such participation is made under the Status and Prestige motivation. Studies found that most of the European tourists would like to teach foreign language for children and people in rural areas. Most of them would like to participate in the Voluntourism
having a proportion of 20-30% volunteer and 70-80% travel and with their friends. These tourists prefer to stay for 11-14 days in a homestay where they can exchange culture with the local host. The appropriate rate for them is €300 per person per package. The findings of this study could benefit those tour operators, organizations and relevant businesses e.g. hotels and restaurants in order to create appropriate packages and marketing strategies to attract the European Voluntourists to continue participating in such Voluntourism programs in a sustainable way.
