This study examined the relationship between the perceived organizational justice and the employees’ job satisfaction using a case study of General Mills (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The survey was conducted on the population of 136 current General Mills (Thailand) employees in August 2016. The study found that: 1.Differences in gender, age, education level, marital status, average monthly income, and job position did not have significant effect on the satisfaction level at work. 2. Perceived procedural justice and distributive justice had significant effects on the satisfaction level at work
It was recommended that the company apply the following practices to improve the employee’s perception in regards to distributive and procedural justices. 1. Review workload of all the positions in every department. Organization should revise work assignment for the employees should there be an excessive workload to ensure the right job size and workload for all. 2. Evaluate whether the compensation in return for employee contribution is appropriate. The amount and criteria for allocation may have to be modified, if necessary. 3. Compare whether the company’s compensation for each job is competitive with that for a similar position in other companies within the same industry. This allows the organization to have a rational compensation and be able to justify it to the employees.
These practices allow the company to have clear criteria for allocation and distribution of the workload; and effectively communicate to its employees. This reduces the perception of unjustice of the employee and leads to the job satisfactions.
