The research on ‘Information Need, Media Uses and Media Habit of Thai Elderly’ has the following objectives: (1) To study information need of Thai elderly; (2) To examine media habit of Thai elderly; (3) To explain media uses of Thai elderly. This research project is a survey research that relies on a questionnaire as a tool technique. The survey is a one-shot case study and the samples of this research are 406 elderly over 60 years old who reside in Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima Province which have the most elderly residence in the top two rank of Thailand. The descriptive data and results from the research hypothesis test lead to the following findings: 1. Thai elderly has high seeking information need in several fields such as domestic news, health and disease, religion, medical care, relaxing activity, environment, mental health, nutrition and public welfare such as social security. The research hypotheses testing result indicate that information need in fields of environment, law, finance, life insurance, home, current affairs and domestic news of Thai elderly are different with statistical significance at .05. 2. Thai elderly has the most media habit in 3 categories; television, intimate friends and family and mobile phone. Hence, almost Thai elderly watch television as the first priority and usually watch news program through channel 3 and channel 7 at around 5 pm.-9 pm or about 1-3 hours daily. They also exchange opinion and have conversation with family and often contact with their family through mobile phone at around 1 pm.-5 pm. generally. The research hypotheses testing result reveal that media exposure of Thai elderly via radio, newspaper and mobile phone relate with different age range of Thai elderly with statistical significance at .05. 3. Media uses of Thai elderly overall can summarize in 7 categories; ( 1) exchanging opinion with others (2) decreasing life insecurity concern (3) creating happiness with friends, family and society (4) acknowledging current situation and daily life (5) comprehending and creating inspiration for themselves (6) relaxing, entertaining and spending time and (7) escaping from loneliness and society. 4. The opinion of Thai elderly toward media reveal that television and personal media give high knowledge, inspiration and entertaining while radio, newspaper, magazine, film and internet provide knowledge, inspiration and entertaining with average rate.
