This quasi - experimental research aimed to investigate the effect of Buddhist spiritual care on spiritual well-being of the end stage cancer elderly patients. The conceptual framework for the intervention in this study was based on “Spiritual well-being” (O’ Brien, 2008) and “Approach to helping terminally ill patients” (Pra Pisan Visalo, 2009). The study was conducted in one sample group with a one-group time series design and evaluated a total of 3 times as follows with one-week intervals between each evaluation. The sample comprised 30 male and female of end stage cancer elderly patients admitting in a private hospital in Bangkok who were selected in line with inclusion criteria. Buddhist spiritual care were held every 2 days, 20–30 min/sessions over a period of 2 weeks for total of 7 sessions. The instrument used in the experiment included the intervention guide by the Buddhist spiritual care. The data collection instrument for this study was the spiritual well-being assessment. The spiritual well-being assessment was then tested for content validity by qualified experts where by reliability was equal to .87. The data was analyzed by using variance with repeated measures (ANOVA) and pairwise comparison. The research findings can be summarized as follows: The average scores for spiritual well-being following the intervention were reduced to more than before the participation in intervention with statistical significance at the level of .05 and the mean score for spiritual well-being began to increase from participation in the first weak onward.
