The purpose of this cross-sectional descriptive study was to study stress level and related factors in parent of autistic child. Data were collected from 106 parents of autistic child who come with autistic child at outpatient department, Rajanukul Institute. The instruments consisted of four following parts; 1) General Background Questionnaire 2) Parent’s Attitude for Child Care Questionnaire 3) The Social Support from Family and Medical Personnel Questionnaire 4) The Stress in Parent of Autistic Child Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-Square Test and One-Way ANOVA. The results revealed that most of the parent of autistic child (65.1%) had moderate level of stress. Factors were significantly related to stress in parent of autistic child were the parent’s age (p<0.05), the parent’s salary (p<0.01), the autistic child ‘s age (p<0.001), the severity of autistic child’s symptom from parent’s perception (p<0.05), the parent’s attitude for child care (p<0.001), the social support from family (p<0.05) and the social support from medical personnel (p<0.001). Most of the parent of autistic child had moderate level of stress. Knowing the related factors in this findings may help autistic child’s related agencies can make the appropriate help program to alleviate stress from the parent of autistic child.
