This descriptive study aims to study social support in methamphetamine (MA) users treating as in-patients. Data were collected from 249 in-patients of the residential treatment at Thanyarak Institute during March, 2012. The research instruments consisted of the demographic questionnaire and The Personal Resource Questionnaire : PRQ Part 2. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, chi-square test and logistic regression analysis. High, medium, and low levels of social support were found in 50 (20.1%), 165 (66.3%), and 34 (13.7. %) MA users, respectively. Education level, number of children, severity of MA-use as measured by amount and frequencyof use, medical illness, treatment duration were associated with social support in the initial analyses with statistical significance at the 0.05 level. MA users with financial problems were 3 times more likely to have less social support than those without. With respect to MA-use severity, Severe MA users were 3 times more likely to have higher social support than mild MA users. In addition, Individuals with more than 30 days of hospital stay (> 30 days) were 2 times more likely to have higher social support than those who went through the present treatment less than 30 days. Financial problems, severe MA-use, and longer duration of hospital stay were associated with social support. The result might be used to encourage increasing social support at appropriate time along the course of MA addiction
