การใช้สื่อของผู้ปลูกถ่ายไขกระดูกเพื่อเสริมการบำบัด / ณิชชารีย์ เดชส่งจรัส = The media usage of bone marrow transplant patient as an assistance of the theraphy / Nicharee Dechsongjarus
The purposes of this research were (1) to study the relation between social and mental conditions of bone marrow transplant patients and the media usage as an assistance of the therapy (2) to understand the categories and contents of media the bone marrow transplant patient selected for usage as an assistance of the therapy and (3) to analyze the benefits and the satisfactory of bone marrow transplant patients towards the media usage as an assistance of the therapy. This research was based on The Uses and Gratification Theory as the framework for analyzing the media usage for bone marrow transplant patients. The data was collected through the Semi-structural interviews from the purposive samples of 12 bone marrow transplant patients who had been treated at Chulabhorn Bone Marrow Transplant Center or Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of Chulalongkorn Hospital. The results of this research were as follows: in each period, social conditions, mental conditions and the therapy places were the related factors on the media usage as the assistance of the therapy for bone marrow transplant patients. The categories of information and contents of media were different in each period. The bone marrow transplant patients would search by Passive strategy, Active strategy and Interactive strategy to receive the information regarding on this sickness. Moreover, the bone marrow transplant patients tried to avoid from the information regarding on the sickness which might be the negative impacts on the mental conditions. The benefits that the bone marrow transplant patients received from the media were the information regarding the sickness, self-evaluation, and entertainment. The bone marrow transplant patients were satisfied by the information regarding the sickness and self-evaluation from the mass media in the form of printing media, modern media (internet), personal media, and special media; on the other hand, they were unsatisfied by the mass media in the form of television and radio. For the entertainment purpose, the bone marrow transplant patients were satisfied by modern media (internet) and all categories of mass media.
