ทัศนคติและพฤติกรรมการควบคุมน้ำหนักของนักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาที่มีภาวะอ้วนในโรงเรียนขยายโอกาสทางการศึกษาสังกัดกรุงเทพมหานคร / จิรยุทธ โสมขันเงิน = Attitude and weight control behavior among obese students in expanded secondary schools under jurisdiction of Bangkok, Metropolis / Jirayut Somkhunngern
The purposes of this survey research were to study the weight control attitude and behavior as well as the relationship between attitude and behavior among obese students in expanded secondary schools under the jurisdiction of Bangkok Metropolis under the influence of genders. The samples were 367 obese students, 188 males and 179 females, who studied in first, second and third year of secondary schools in 2009 academic year. Sample selection was achieved by specific randomization. The questionnaire was employed as a research tool in this study. The index of item objective congruence (IOC) was 0.84 and its reliability was 0.82. The obtained data were analyzed in term of percentages, means, standard deviations, T-test and Pearson’s coefficient were also applied. The results indicated : 1. The attitude toward weight control under the aspect of diet control of obese students was found to be in moderate level, while the attitude toward weight control regarding physical activities was found at good level. The differences between genders were not statistically significant at .05 level. 2. The weight control behavior under the aspects of diet control and physical activities of obese students were at fair level. Significantly differences between genders were also found at .05 level. 3. Attitude toward weight control under the aspect of diet control and the behavior of diet control were not highly correlated (r = 0.151). The correlation coefficient for male students was 0.211. 4. There was no correlation between the attitude toward weight control regarding physical activities and the behavior regarding physical activities (r = 0.088). Considering the effect of sexes, there was a low correlation between the attitude toward weight control regarding physical activities and the behavior regarding physical activities for male students (r = 0.175). In conclusion, obese students attitude toward weight control was found to be at pretty good level and weight control behavior was found to be at fair level. As a result, the school should promote weight control programe and activities that suitable for the obese male and female students.
