This research has two main objectives: first, to study labor migration and adjustment second, to investigate factors affecting labor migrants’ intention to settle down in place of destination in industrial factories, Pathum Thani province. The study comprises of two types of research designs. First, quantitative approach was used to obtain data through questionnaire interviewing of 500 selected labor migrants aged 20-50 years who worked in Navanakorn Industrial Estate and lived in Pathum Thani province at least one year prior to the survey. Qualitative approach, an in-dept. interview was used to obtain information from randomly selected 25 migrants’ workers who either had and did not have intention to settle down. The findings indicated that the insufficient income in original place was key factor to push labor migrate to destination place. Majority of labor migrants could adapt themselves at a moderate level (mean = 13.7) and 78.8 percent of them did not wish to settle in place of destination. The data were analysis through Multiple Classification Analysis indicated that the total 14 independent variables could explain about 15.7 percent for the variation in the dependent variable: intention to settle down in place of destination. The best explained variable was family size. The next best explained variables were adjustment, duration of residence in place of destination, and age of labor migrant. By undertaking Multinomial Logistic Regression method, the total 14 independent variables could explain about 31 percent for the variation in the dependent variable: adjustment and intention to settle down in place of destination. The best explained variables were duration of residence in place of destination, age, marital status, and income. For in-dept interview, many labor migrants had interpersonal relations problems. Due to their low educational level, therefore they could not adapt themselves well and did not wish to settle in place of destination. For sustainable economic development, human resource development is the most important. Therefore, the labor migrants capability should be as well strengthened so that they could become an agent of change and will be able to adapt themselves better.
