แนวทางการพัฒนาการสัญจรทางน้ำโดยเรือขนส่งมวลชนในคลองกรุงเทพมหานครฝั่งตะวันออกเพื่อเชื่อมกับระบบไฟฟ้าบีทีเอส / สิริกร มานะสมบูรณ์ = Development guidelines for water transportation in Eastern Bangkok's canals linked to the BTS system / Sirikorn Manasomboon
The objectives of this research are 1) to study samples of travel behavior that use canals linked to the BTS system, 2) to study linkages, problems and obstacles of samples' traveling from currently provided public transportation and 3) to suggest the development guidelines to make water transportation linked to the BTS system more efficient. According to the physical condition of the study areas, there are varities of landuses along Sansaeb canal such as commercial, academic institutes and houses, etc. The areas along Prakanong canal are mostly used for housing and religious places. The difference of landuses and density of those areas influence the number of taxi boat users. Many roads near the case study piers have traffic jam during rush hours. The research also finds that traveling by water transportation linked to the BTS system is not very popular. There is not enough transportation interchange which make the distance between transportation system shorter and more convenient for the users. There are 18 samples who use both taxi boats and the BTS. Asok-Petchaburi bridge pier and MRT Petchaburi station is the most connected Interchange. Beside, there is a problem about traffic near transportation interchange. According to the samples' opinion, the existing road network and transportation system are able to connect the case study piers and other areas but they are still not efficient. Although traveling by the BTS can save the time, transportation fare is quite expensive. The development guidelines for water transportation linked to the BTS system should be adjusted to improve the quality of the connected transportation system which is not only to increase its efficiency but also attract more users. It's also suggested that, needed public services should be provided to travelers for more convenience. Beside, the environment in the traffic ways and connected areas where have problems should be improved. In the future, development planning should be concerned about existing transportation systems.
