The purpose of this study was to study the status and trends of general education in Thai universities covering objectives, content, teaching methods, administration and trends. The methods employed were survey research, catalog studies and focus group meeting. The findings showed that the understanding of the general education concept among administrator, teachers and students were still different. However, they were agreeable to emphasize students better worldviews. The contents were relevant to their daily lives and teaching method widely used was still lecturing. Satisfaction with administration was moderate and trends were more on research and development in general education. New courses should be introduced. The author has suggested that each institution should review and set clear objectives of general education and communicate widely among the people within the institution. The systematic curriculum development should be employed by setting objectives followed accordingly by contents and methods. Good practices and innovations should also be developed for the quality of general education in Thai universities.
