The objective of this research was to develop a model for leadership traits development of the deans. The methodology of the study was descriptive research. The research was comprised of 6 steps which were : 1) review related literatures and research and identify conceptual framework 2) study leadership roles, leadership behaviors and leadership traits of the deans 3) analyze the experts{7f2019} views regarding the leadership traits of the deans 4) develop the model 5) verify and evaluate the appropriateness and feasibility of the model 6) modify and present the research findings. The subjects of the study consisted of the deans in higher educational institutes under The Office of Higher Education Commissions and the experts. The study of leadership roles, leadership behaviors, and leadership traits of the deans revealed 48 leadership traits which were suitable for their roles. The leadership traits of the deans could be categorized to 4 groups which were : 1. administrative leadership traits 2. academic leadership traits 3. personality leadership traits and 4. moral and ethical leadership traits. According to the findings about leadership traits of the deans, the drafted model was developed and a seminar was conducted to verify and evaluate the model by the experts. The model from research findings was modified and presented, which comprised of 4 parts as follows : Part 1) the leadership traits of the deans needed to be developed , Part 2) the principle, concepts and general objective of the model, Part 3) the development process which were classified to 4 procedures : 1) needs assessment for leadership traits development 2) preparation for readiness 3) developing leadership traits, this procedure was comprised of 4 development areas : model 1 administrative leadership traits development , model 2 academic leadership traits development , model 3 personality leadership traits development, model 4 moral and ethical leadership traits development , integrated practicum and 4) evaluation the post development and the whole process of the model Part 4) the application, conditions and key success indicators of the model.
