การเมืองเรื่องการเลือกตั้ง : ศึกษากรณีการรณรงค์หาเสียงเลือกตั้งนายกเทศมนตรี ของเทศบาลนครเชียงใหม่ ปี พ.ศ. 2547 / เพียงกมล มานะรัตน์ = The politics of elections : a case study of the Chiang Mai mayoral election campaign 2004 / Phengkamon Marnarath
To examine the process of campaigning in the election of the mayor of Chiang Mai Municipality on February 1, 2004, the first direct laws and regulations. This brought important changes, namely direct rather than indirect election of the mayor, the supervision of the election by the Election Commission in place of the Ministry of Interior and the strictness in the application of laws through sanctions. The study found that 1) campaign organization and strategies, as well as the relationships between the candidates, the canvassers and the majority of the electorate in the main involued interpersonal relationship of a patron-client kind, though other kinds of relationships also exhibited themselves; 2) the electoral laws beeing used for the first time made for changes in the electoral process, especially in election campaigning in both negative and positive directions. Negatively, dishonest campaigning methods became more complex such that the arm of the law failed to bring culprits to justice. Positively, campaigning involved the use of policy as an important vote - getting tool in conjunction with other long - standing methods.
