The purpose of this descriptive research were to study: 1) personal factors, self disclosure, social support, perceived health status and mental health in psychological well-being component, and psychological distress component of HIV/AIDS patients 2) the relationships between personal factors, self disclosure, social support, perceived health status and mental health in psychological well-being component, and psychological distress component of HIV/AIDS patients. The sample were 130 HIV/AIDS patients selected by purposive sampling method from out patient department of Bamrasnaradura Institute. The research instrument were questionnaires namely mental health, self disclosure, social support, hope and perceived health status. All questionnaires were tested for content validity and reliability. The Cronbach's Alpha coefficient reliability were .94, .79, .91, .86, and .72, respectively. Statistical techniques utilized in data analysis were Percentage, Mean, Mode, Median, Standard deviation, Chi square, Contingency coefficient, and Pearson product moment correlation. Major results of this study were as follows: 1. HIV/AIDS patients were mostly male (57.7%) and diagnosed with AIDS (39.2%). They had mean age of 34.51 years. They had scores on self disclosure in the moderate level ([Mean] = 2.21 ,S.D. = 0.24), social support in the high level ([Mean] = 3.67, S.D. = 0.58), hope in the moderate level ([Mean] = 3.14, S.D. = 0.46), and perceived health status in the rather poor level ([Mean] = 669.97, S.D.= 132.31). The scores of mental health and psychological well-being component were in rather good level ([Mean] = 4.11, S.D. = 0.78; = 3.95, S.D. = 0.90 respectively), where as the score on psychological distress component were in moderate level ([Mean] = 2.82, S.D. = 0.78). 2. Self disclosure, social support, hope, and perceived health status were positive significantly related to mental health in psychological well-being component of HIV/AIDS patients (r= .236, .431, .539 and .540, p=.05, respectively) and were negative significantly related to psychological distress component (r = -.214, -.398, -.516 and -.431, p=.05, respectively). Sex was significantly related to mental health in psychological distress component of HIV/AIDS patients (p.05, C=.262 respectively) by which female had higher scores. In addition, age was negative significantly related to mental health in psychological distress component (r = -.190, p=.05).
