สาธารณูปการที่จำเป็นสำหรับผู้อยู่อาศัยในบริเวณนิคมบ้านพักรถไฟ กม. 11 / ทวีศักดิ์ สุทธิเสริม = Essential physical facilities in the state Railway Housing at Kilometer 11 / Taweesak Suttiserm
The objective of this research is to study the social and economic conditions of the state railway personnel living in the State Railway of Thailand's welfare living quarters in the State Railway Housing at Kilometer 11. The study concerns the use of, and the problems of using, the current physical facilities, the needs and prioritization of physical facilities to be used as guidelines for providing or improving the facilities in the housing compound. This is includes both cases of where the housing will remain in the same area, and where the housing might be relocated to a new site if the State Railway of Thailand wishes to put the land to other uses. The results from the study show that most residents have attained a high school certificate or a vocational education diploma. The people in this group are married, with an average of 4 family members. They earn a moderate salary of approximately 19,870 baths per household. Most of the current facilities used are located in, or near, the housing estate. Of the 14 facilities mostly used by the residents, 11 items are provided in the area and three are outside the area and are not provided in the State Railway housing estate at Kilometer 11. The facility mostly used in the area is taxi motorcycle while facility mostly used outside the area is supermarket. From the 9 categories of facilities, commerce-related category is mostly used by the residents; both as consumers and retailers, followed by those related to recreation. The facilities frequently used are education-related category. The findings show that most facilities currently used are convenient, safe and clean. According to the prioritization of facilities, it is found that the residents put health care on the top of the list, followed by those related to security. From the research, it can be concluded that at present the facilities provided in the State Railway of Thailand's housing estate at kilometer 11 are appropriate to the residents' needs. However, the researcher would like to suggest that the State Railway of Thailand consider improving the physical facilities in the housing by taking into account the characteristics of the consumers, uses, and the importance of each type of facility. Also, the facilities which are outside of the housing area, are inconvenient for the residents to use and should be provided in, or near, the area. If that cannot be done, an indirect way of rendering convenience should be provided so as to promote the use of such facilities. This will improve the staff welfare and increase their work efficiency which will contribute directly to the success of the organization.
