At present, Thailand has constructed more museums for educational exhibition based on the acknowledgement of the importance of exposition for children. However, the environmental graphic design only focus on the design principles to attract attention, for example using the vivid colors or using extraordinary type fonts without concerning of the negative influences on the learning process of the children. Dr. Edgar Dale provided the guidelines of using the teaching materials in his book, “AUDIOVISUAL METHOD IN TEACHING”, which some key ideas diverged from the previous of most designers, for example the extent of designing for attracting, must not interfere with the learning process of the children. This principle should be able to efficiently adapt to the environmental graphic design for educating exhibition. The objective of this research is focused on the appropriated and accepted ways of the environmental graphic design by using Dr. Edgar Dale’s philosophy to design the educational exhibition for children. This research is composed of the congregation of information from the papers of Dr. Dale, all the related information about the environmental graphic design for educating exhibition and also the psychology studies of the children aged 6-12 years old. Next, these information are categorized and analyzed by the comparison method, then, the result is submitted for the depth interview by the specialist prior to the conclusion of the research. The final result indicates that such approach has changed the previous design principles for children, particularly in the usage of color. It tends to use only needed and limited colors. In addition, there are other indications that create such harmonized and more systematic designs. Finally, there is the adaptation of the research to the actual design project which Bangkok Children Museum is selected to be the study case for future environmental graphic design education.
