The objectives of this researh are : 1) to study the use of CU Reference Databases, in terms of, purposes, locations, and frequency of use, database used, search topics, output formats, and benefit gained by using the databases, and 2) to study the problems in using CU Reference Databases. This study was a survey research in which questionnaires were used to collect data from 450 users of CU Reference Databases in 30 Chulalongkorn University libraries. Three hundred and forty-three questionnaires were returned and analyzed. The results can be summarized as follows: most users use CU Reference Databases for studying purpose ; location of use is the faculty library. They use the databases 2-3 times per week. The database used by the majority of users in MEDLINE (WebSPIRS). The topic of searched by the highest number of users is Human Resource Management and most users receive bibliographic data and abstracts. The benefit gained by using databases for writing thesis is at high level. The problem encountered by users at high level are insufficient databases in Thai and no printer available for service. Problems that users faced at moderate level are taking so much time in searching and receiving information in appropriate format, no manual in Thai for all databases, not able to trace new databases, no librarian or staff to supervise database use, and insufficient training for the use of databases.
