The purpose of this research was to study the instructional management of basic education in the area of art based on the national education act B.E. 2542 in 1) objectives 2) content 3) learning process 4) measurement and evaluation. The samples of this study were 366 teachers and 15 art educators. The instruments used in this research were the questionnaire and the interview form. The collected data were analyzed by percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. The research finding was as follow : 1) Most of art teachers agreed as the higest level in instructional management of art education in all areas; objective, content, learning process management, and evaluation. 2) Art teachers suggested in each area that. Objectives : In all levels learners should be supported to gain knowledge, understanding, and pround of Thai art and traditional art. They should be encouraged to think creatively, by develop imagination and expression including giving support to express ideas, to communicate thoughts and feelings by using art as a mean of an independent working process. Content area : learners should be encouraged to get knowledge from any kind of learning resources, and they should have a chance to learn in authentic situations. Learning process management : learners should have an opportunity to do art works in accordance with their needs, working style, and interest by considering appropriateness and maturity. Measurement and evaluation : authentic assessment should be implemented in all areas focusing on morals, ethics and good values. 3) Art educators suggested in each area that Objectives : it should be in accordance with the core curriculum and the local curriculum. Content area : it should be separated in each area; visual arts, music, and dance. Learning process management : it should emphasize activities both inside and outside the classrooms, employed a variety of learning resources and integrated the instructional methods. Measurement and evaluation : the authentic evaluation should be used. Evaluation should be done by teacher as the evaluator, students evaluated themselves, and both teacher and students collaborated evaluation.
