The purpose of this research is to find the use of space to reflect the characteristics of two-dimensional graphic design with reference from the history of graphic design. Graphic styles in history used เท this research included Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, Futurism, Dadaism, Art Deco, Constructivism, De stijl, and Bauhaus. The methodology involved selecting works documenting and analyzing the use of space to reflect the characteristics of two-dimensional graphic design. The graphic design samples were selected by using stratified random sampling and expert choice techniques. The panel of nine experts was purposively selected from government and private organizations. In conclusion, 131 graphic design works were selected. The methodology used to analyze the data were figure and ground, element and frame of reference, type of space, and structure. The result of this research was the used of space for 24 characteristics, included formal, austere, meticulous, cultured, wealthy, complex, elegant, grace, feminine, lively, vivid, clean, dynamic, motion, energy, violent, free, speed, ferment, bold, simplicity, strong, harmony, and functional.
