The intention of this research is to study the functions of the Islamic food culture for Thai Muslim’s way of life. The sample of this research is drawn from the population of Haroon Mosque community, Bang-Rug district, the province of Bangkok, with the size of 70 by questionnaire and 20 by in depth interview. The result of this research was found that, Islam has the definite, refine and strict food consumption; but it is sufficiently flexible for Muslim’s way of life. Muslims are strict on food consumption regulations. The more they are educated in the religion, the more they are strict on food consumption. The manifest function of the Islamic food consumption is to made good health and mind. The latent function is to strengthen social solidarity. It was also found that derails of the Islamic food consumption behavior deeply affects the society in general : strict consciousness to the religion, earning of living in a close community group, claim of laws and legislation to the government for Muslim’s needs, and satisfaction of governmental attention consequently the strengthen of social solidarity in general. The conclusion of this research was that, Islam is a religion that includes regulations concerning beliefs and ritual performances which cover Muslim’s way of life. Together with the culture of the Islamic food consumption comprising the definite, refine and strict regulations, it influences over solemn beliefs and profound consciousness towards the religion, responsibilities in social pattern and order, Islamic community, and national and international unity.
