To find efficient scheduling method and develop computer program for die production scheduling in automotive parts industry. In experiment to find efficient scheduling method that gives minimum mean job tardiness, which is scheduling objective. The job shop scheduling technique was applied using nondelay schedule generation and heuristic approach. Five heuristic rules : EDD, SLACK, SLACK/RO, SMT, SPT were tested with real production data by computer program which developed. The structure of computer program contains three parts, schedule input, schedule process and report. In addition, the program can also conduct such a complex feacture as interactive scheduling. The output of program can be displayed on Gannt Charts and show schedule performance. Besides, the program can manage uncertains such as machine breakdown and shift due date. The experiment results show that EDD heuristic rule with nondelay schedule generation is the best efficient scheduling method. When compared with old scheduling method, mean job tardiness value decreased by 26%, number of tardy job decreased by 33% and mean job lateness value decreased by 55%. In summary, the proposed system will reduce shop floor leader's skill requirement, planning time and provide an accurate die production schedule plan that complies with production scheduling objective.
