The Workshop was convened as part of preparations for the Third United Nations Conference for Least Developed Countries hosted by the European Union in Brussels on 14-20 May 2001. The primary objective of the Workshop was to highlight the link between gender, poverty reduction and economic development and the necessity to mainstream gender into LDCs national policies and programmes.
