This study provides information to managers of small ports in developing countries on how information technology can be used to speed up the movement of goods. After identifying information -related problems, the study describes in general the solutions that have been developed to address these problems. UNCTAD's logistic information system, PortTracker is described. A ship management and a containerized cargo management system are proposed that could use the Internet to exchange information.
