This paper is divided into two sections. The first is devoted to the new issues of "new services for development". It is a contribution to a progress report on UNCTAD activities to the development of infrastructure services specifically designed to assist the informal sector and to promote the development of micro-enterprises, in particular in activities related to micro-credit. The second section addresses four topics: (1) trade efficiency strategy; (2) the legal dimensions of the Trade Point programme; (3) inter-institutional cooperation in the trade efficiency area; and (4) trade efficiency assessment
