This document presents four issues: (1) the meaning and importance of globalization for developing countries; (2) managing competition, and lessons from successful development experiences; (3) whether the risk of marginalization facing the least developed countries and other structurally weak or vulnerable economies has been increased by the process of globalization and, if so, what those countries can do to accelerate growth and development; and (4) electronic commerce and the future of competition in international trade
