Information technology is among the fast growing industries of the world today. It leads to the new concept of thinking in various aspects including data and knowledge recording. Data collected in various forms play the crucial part of the formation of all humans' creativity. The collection of data named 'database' would be subsequently the main sources of creation publicly known as 'Intellectual Property'. However, the procedures of protection to the data themselves and the producers of such creations are not fully materialized. Piracy of those valuable data and database becomes the huge problem in information technology industry. All the leading nations such as the USA, UK and members of the European Union establish their own effective protection systems and updata the relevant laws regularly. Such effort has been extended to the international level as draft of agreement on intellectual property protection among the member states of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). In Thailand, the concept of intellectual property protection is also recognised. However, only a few laws concerning copyright, patent and trademark already exist and nothing close to electronic data and databases at all. Therefore, more regulations on intellectual property protection based on international standard protection system would have to be enacted to cope with the rapid growth of the industry in the near future.
