Children have more freedom to choose what to study, with whom to mary and most importance what custom and some traditional practices to follow. Mixed cultural characteristics of Thai and Chinese are naticeable in their practices of their dialy life activities. Assimilation becomes more apparent. Nevertheless, some Chinese custom and traditions are also to a certain extent well preserved and worshipped e.g. ancestral worship and freguents to Chinese shrines. This is to remind them of their origin and their Chinese ancesters. They are assimilated into Thai society, but as an ethnic group they maintain some of their custom and thus maintain to a certain degree their Chineseness.
