งานบริการผสมยาฉีดที่ให้ทางหลอดเลือดดำในโรงพยาบาลเชียงรายประชานุเคราะห์ / จิราพร กันทา = Intravenous admixture service in Chang Rai Regional Hospital / Jiraporn Kanta
The objective of this direct observational descriptive study was to evaluate preparation time, direct cost and preparation errors of intravenous admixture service in the pediatric inpatient department at Chiang Rai Regional Hospital. Comparing the results of service provided by nurses (between Nov. 1,99 and Dec. 7,99) and by pharmacists (between June 23,00 and July 31,00). The results were as follows : means of preparation time/dose 3.53±1.67 minuts versus 4.63±0.90 minutes, direct cost; labor cost/dose 3.42±1.62 bahts versus 5.32±1.04bahts ; material cost/dose 25.34±52.90 bahts versus 21.37±32.19 bahts. Drug preparation error rate was 49.7% versus 1.0% for service provided by nurses (based on 83 observations and 1,383 doses) and by pharmacists (based on 58 observations and 1,671 doses) respectively. Mean of preparation time was significantly longer for service provided by pharmacists (P<0.05). The direct cost could not be compared since there were too many variables such as injected drugs, doses and used materials, However, drug preparation error rate which is the most important determinant was significantly higher in the service provided by nurses (P<0.05). With respect to the result of this study, the patient outcomes should be further studied.
