วิเคราะห์วาทศิลป์ในข่าวอาชญากรรมของหนังสือพิมพ์รายวัน / บุญชัย ศรีประทีป = Analysis of rhetoric in the crime news of daily newspapers / Boonchai Sripratheep
Tests Jack Fuller's concept about the usage of rhetoric in the crime news of daily newspapers. Analyzes the content of nine crime news during January to June 2000 and in-depth interviews with two of mass communication educators and journalists. The research found that all nine crime news, reported on Thai Rath and Kao Sod newspapers presented the story according to the concept of rhetoric in the news. The news had main theme that was used as outline or plot of this story. The mentioning of people in the news was similar to characters in novel. The dialogue or conversations, commentory including atmosphere were reported descriptively with style. Reading news was similar to reading novel. The reporters also used descriptive words to build pictures and feeling to the readers. All of mass communication educators and journalists agree that newspaper is a mass communication media that has to compete with other media such as radio, internet and other business related media. Thus, to survive in the business world, daily newspaper publishers increasingly adapt this approach of news reporting. The newspaper publishers should also consider the possible impacts that may result from this style of reporting the crime news.
