สุนทรียรูปในสื่อสารการแสดง "งิ้ว" ของคนไทยในปัจจุบัน / ปรีดา อัครจันทโชติ = Aesthetic formality of contemporary Chinese opera by Thai performers / Preeda Akkrajantachote
This research was conducted to study the aesthetic formality of Chinese Opera in Thailand, comprising 7 topics i.e 1) performance series 2) stage, settings and props 3) music and singing 4) types and roles of characters 5) art and techniques of performance 6) costumes and painted faces 7) plays, to examine how the concepts of Chinese Opera, performance and communication, as well as Confucius' aesthetic vision have been employed by Thai performers, and the audience in the communication process. This study is a qualitative research by systematic observation and video recording, depth interviews, and documentary research from six Chaozhou (Taechew) Chinese Opera companies in Thailand, Sai Yong Hong, Sai Po Hong, Tia Kia Yi Lai Heng, Tai Tong, Lao Ngeg Lao Chung, and Lao Buang Ni Heng. Results of research found that Thai performers enter the Chinese Opera profession in two manners 1) "He Kia" (children of Chinese Opera) : parents take them to make a contact with the repertoire company 2) applying by their own accord. Basic qualifications are not important, but starting at an early age and rigorous training are the key factors behind a performers progress and success in their career. Chinese Opera is an aesthetic expression performed through compositions that expound beauty as merit, beauty in combination between form and content, reality and symbolism, and between different “Nataya Rasa” (behaviors) : such as sensuality (Sringara), laughter (Hasya), pathetic (Karuna), aggression (Raudra), and heroism (Vira). Contemporary performances have been changed because of 1) Reduction in training and the artistry of performers, the delicate of performance and performers and 2) Experiment and adoptions to develop the Chinese Opera. The audience still understands the communication process which changed little because the Chaozhou Chinese Opera in Thailand still maintains the same formality as in China..
