พฤติกรรมการดูแลสุขภาพของแรงงานต่างชาติ : ศึกษาเปรียบเทียบคนงานบ่อเลี้ยงกุ้ง กับคนงานสวนยางพาราในจังหวัดระนอง / ประไพ พุกงาม = Health care behaviour of foreign labour : a comparative study of shrimp culture and rubber plantation in Ranong Province / Prapai Pukngarm
The main objective of this study was to investigate and compare the effects of demographic, socio-economic characteristics of foreign labour on their health care behavior : prevention and choices of method of illness treatment , knowledge and risk behavior : prevention and choices of method of illness treatment , knowledge and risk behavior of HIV/AIDS. The total sample of 632 male labours who were working in the shrimp-culture from and rubber plantation in Ranong province were purposively selected. Data collection was made through the use of a questionnaire. The analysis revelved that the following characteristics of foreign labour; age, marital status, Education, income, living duration in Thailand, hygienic living place, proper food consumption and nutrition did not relate with their preventive behavior and choices of method of illness treatment. It was found that living duration in Thailand significantly affected differentials in knowledge of HIV/AIDS of rubber plantation labour as hypothesized. It was also found that education and living, duration in Thailand significantly affected the risk behavior of HIV/AIDS of rubber plantation labour. The results of the comparative analysis of preventive behavior between the two groups of foreign labours, it was found that the rubber plantation labour had better preventive behavior than that of the shrimp culture labour. With regard to choices of method of illness treatment, it was found that the larger proportion of the rubber plantation labour compared to that of the shrimp culture labour chose to receive services from government health care centres. With regard to knowledge and risk behavior of HIV/AIDS, the shrimp culture labour had better knowledge and had lower of HIV/AIDS than found among the rubber plantation labour.
