The purpose of this research was to analyze attributions of learning success and failure of secondary school students. The subjects were 1,435 of mathayom suksa 1 to 6 school students, randomly drawn from the secondary schools nationwide. All subjects completed the questionnaire assessing the attributions of learning success and failure. The data were analyzed by using t-test and one-way analysis of variance. The findings of the research were as follows: 1. The lower secondary school students attributed their success more to the internal factors than the external factors. The internal factor attributed most was cheerfulness, while the external factor attributed most was the absence of prejudice toward the teachers. 2. The upper secondary school students attributed their success more to the internal factors than the external factors. The internal factor attributed most was impulsive effort, while the external factor attributed most was the absence of prejudice toward the teachers. 3. The lower secondary school students attributed their failure more to the internal factors than the external factors. The internal factor attributed most was moodiness, while the external factor attributed most was difficulty of the task. 4. The upper secondary school students attributed their failure more to the internal factors than the external factors. The internal factor attributed most was lack of enduring effort, while the externalfactor attributed most was difficulty of the task.
