The research instruments were English vocabulary learning test, basic knowledge test, attitude scale towards English, motivation scale towards English, Standard Progressive Matrices, the quality of instruction questionnaire and home environment questionnaire. The English vocabulary learning test were employed 7 times. The data were analyzed by HLM program and SPSS/PC+ program. The major results were as follows: 1. The growth in English vocabulary learning was linear growth model. 2. The results of analysis on growth in English vocabulary learning model were as follows: 2.1 The null model analysis showed that mean initial status of growth in English vocabulary learning was 30.72 and varied among persons significantly at .01. 2.2 The results of analysis on growth in English vocabulary learning model were: 1) Mean initial status and mean growth rate in English vocabulary learning significantly affected the student English vocabulary learning at .01 and also varied among persons significantly at .01. 2) The repeated observation variable "time interval" could explain the variation of growth in English vocabulary learning about 85%. 3) The estimated reliabilities of initial status and growth rate parameter in English vocabulary learning were 0.940 and 0.712 respectively. 4) The correlation between initial status and growth rate was -0.558. 3. The resulfs of analysis on a multilevel causal analysis of growth in English vocabulary learning model were as follows: 3.1 The variables that had direct effect on initial status and growth rate in English vocabulary learning were the basic knowledge and the English learning motivation. 3.2 The variables that had indirect effect on initial status and growth rate in English vocabulary learning were the level of parent's education, the parent's incomes, the family relationship and the encouragement of learning in the family. 3.3 The variables that had both direct and indirect effect on initial status and growth rate in English vocabulary learning were intelligence, the attitude in English learning, the quality of instruction and the variable of feminity.
