The purpose of this research was to study teaching methods and the uses of media in teaching Art History at the upper secondary level in secondary schools tinder the jurisdiction of the department of general education. The research sampling group were 95 visual art instructors, 7 art history specialists and 8 art history media developers. The instrument used in this research was a set of questionaire consisting of checklists, rating scales, open ended questions and interviews. The data was analyzed by means, standard deviations and frequencies. The results of this study reported that the opinion of visual art instructors and art history specialists about teaching methods in this study was as follow : The visual art instructors and art history specialist rated teaching methods which sustain knowledge at the high level. The visual art instructors and art history specialists rated teaching methods that enrich critical thinking at the high level; rated teaching methods that motivate student’s interest at the high level. The visual art instructors rated teaching methods that advocate scientific learning at the high level; art history specialists rated it at the moderate level. The visual art instructors rated teaching methods that encourage self-directed learning at the high level; art history specialists rated it at the moderate level. The visual art instructors rated teaching methods that reinforce students in inquiry learning at the high level; art history specialists rated it at the moderate level. The visual art instructors and art history specialists rated teaching methods that provoke the cooperative learning at the moderate level. The visual art instructors rated teaching methods that develop correlated learning at the high level; art history specialists rated it at the moderate level. For the aspect of teaching media, art history media developers rated teaching media that sustain knowledge at the high level; rated teaching media that enrich critical thinking at the high level; rated teaching media that motivate student’s interest at the high level; rated teaching media that advocate scientific learning at the high level; rated teaching media that encourage self-directed learning at the high level; rated teaching media that reinforce students in inquiry learning at the moderate level; rated teaching media that provoke the cooperative learning at the moderate level and rated teaching media that develop correlated learning at the moderate level.
