The Glass Organization is a state enterprise, controlled by the Armed Force Industrial Department, Ministry of Defence, whose function is to produce glass product in accordance with the demand of the market as well as militarial war supplies. It was established in 1955 by the Royal Degree. The Glass Organization has been facing high cost of production. Thus a new automatic machine has been brought in to cut down the loss incurred in the process of production. Inspite of the effort made, high cost of production, compared with that of private companies, has still been persistent. A closer look at the Organization revealed that a more efficient accounting system could perhaps provide a more useful and more timely data to be used in conducting the business or decision making. The Author, therefore, proposed in this thesis that an estimated cost accounting system be used instead of the present actual cost accounting system. With estimated cost set at the beginning of an accounting period as a guideline to be followed in the production for the ensuing year, any variance from the estimated cost could be easily shown up and it causes can receive immediate attention and be investigated. Remedial action can then be taken promptly. Such action could bring costs of production under control and reduction of cost can be effected more readily.
