อุบัติการณ์ และปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการเกิดโรคอุจจาระร่วงในเด็กอายุ 0-5 ปี ในชุมชนเขตเมือง จังหวัดสุโขทัย / วันทนีย์ อิสระไพจิตร์ = Incidence and factors related to diarrhoeal disease in children 0-5 years in urban communities, Sukhothai province / Wantanee Issarapichit
An active surveillance study of the incidence rate of diarrheal disease in children of 0-5 years old in urban communities, Sukothai Province, together with an interviewed survey concerning the knowledge, attitude and practice of the heads of the family or spouses and other factors related to diarrhea were carried out during October 1 to December 31, 1994. A total of 406 families who had children of 0-5 years old in urban communities, Sukhothai Province was all recruited as samples. The incidence rate of diarrhea among 441 children of 0-5 years old in 406 families during 3 months of observation (October 1 to December 31, 1994)1 was 15.2%. The highest incidence rate was in October (7.3%). The number of diarrhea per sick person was 1.19 and 63.8% of diarrheal cases were in medium level of severity. It was shown in the study that the family of having diarrhea children and the family of not having diarrhea children showed the difference with statistical significance (p<0.05) in the following factors:-incorrect sewage disposal, unhygienic disposal of garbage and waste water, the congestion of mechanical vectors such as rats cockroaches, the respiratory tract illness and age of children. Among children who got diarrhea during the studied period, it appeared that the difference of having diarrhea dis was found more in children of 2 years or less than children of more than 2 years old with statistical significance (p<0.05), whereas there was no difference in the suavity of diarrhea disease.
