Effects of garlic extract on testosterone secretion and sperm qualifies were studied in adult male rats. Garlic extracted by chloroform at doses of 80, 160 and 320 mg/kg were daily forced-fed to animals for 30 days. Serum cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL, HDL and testosterone levels were assayed : the density, motility, viability and fertility of sperms were studied. Testosterone secretion from mouse's Leydig's cell were conducted in vitro. The treatment at dose of 160 mg/kg decreased serum cholesterol triglyceride, LDL, testosterone levels, and sperm qualities. The dose or 160 mg/kg dramatically decreased serum cholesterol (50.05±4.19, 56.66±2.97, 53.60±5.633 mg/dl) were observed compare to that of the control group (60.41±4.34 mg/dl) ; The decrement of triglyceride found at D10>D20>D30 were 43.18±7.l4>38.17±6.68>32.78±6.22 mg/dl whereas that of the control group was 75.00±2.15 mg/dl ; serum LDL 6.59±0.36>5.75±1.33>5.58±l.79 mg/dl were different from that of the control group (12.62±0.89 mg/dl). On the other hand serum HDL relatively increased in 10 consecutive days (41.45±6.61< 44.36±3.90<45.36±6.10 mg/dl) ; Serum testosterone (2098±149.00>2006.48±l09.28 J >1920.48±202.38 pmol/L were relatively lower than that of the control group (2540.59±224.58 pmol/L). The 160 mg/kg extract reduced the sperm density from 85±12.86 to 30±11.30 x 106 cell/10 ul. In addition, the above dose minimized the sperm viability from 76 to 24% and decreased the implantation by 50% The combination of garlic extract 160 mg/kg and testosterone 50 ug restored the implantation by 3 fold compare to the treatment by sole extract. Besides, the extract at dose of 0.125 mg partly inhibited the secretion of testosterone levels from mouse's Leydig's cell.
