ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างตัวแปรคัดสรรด้านภูมิหลังกับระดับการดูแล ของผู้ปกครองที่มีต่อเด็กโรคหัวใจพิการแต่กำเนิด / นิลาวรรณ ทวีกันต์ = Relationships between care takers' selected background variables and level of care for children with congenital heart disease / Nilawan Thaweegun
The purposes of this research were to study the level of care given to children with congenital heart disease which performed by the care takers and to search for the variables that would be able to predict such care. Age, educational level, knowledge about congenital heart disease and health beliefs related to the perception of seriousness were the selected background variables acted as the predetermined predictors. One hundred and thirty two care takers were systemically random sampling from the care cakers who accompanied the children to the heart disease clinics for the child at out patient department of five hospitals located in Bangkok Metropolis. The research instrument developed by the researcher was the interview questionnaire which has been designed to collect the responses from the care takers within the areas of knowledge about congenital heart disease, health beliefs related to the perception of seriousness and the characteristic of care for the sick children. Fourteen experts in prediatric nursing reviewed the instrument in order to ensure the content validity. The reliability procedures were performed on the try-out data to assess the internal consistency which indicated that Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient on the areas of characteristic of care and health beliefs related to the perception of seriousness were 0.81 and 0.77 consecutively. The Kuder Richardson-20 procedure conducted for the reliability of the knowledge about congenital heart disease was 0.83.
A statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS[superscript x]) computer program was used for the analysis of data. Various statistical methods; percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis, have been used for the data analysis. Summary of the findings were as follows: 1. The arithematic mean of total score of the care for children with congenital heart disease performed by the car taker was at the middle level. However, the care takers have given the high level of the care for the children in the areas of drug administration and the prevention of critical conditions. The level of care on the area of complication prevention was rated at the middle range. The low level of care showed on the areas of growth and development and tooth care. 2. The best predictors of the care for children with congenital heart disease performed by the care-takers were educational level, age, and knowledge about heart disease. 2.1 Educational level was able to predict the characteristic of care for children with congenital heart disease on the total score and on the areas of growth and development and complication prevention. This predictor could explain 8.74% (R = .2956), 5.47% (R = .2340), and 2.97% (R = .1724) of the total variences of the total care, growth and development and complication prevention respectively. 2.2 Age of the care taker was able to predict the care on the area of drug administration which explain 2.96% (R = .1719) of the total varience of drug administration. 2.3 Knowledge about congenital heart disease was able to predict the care on the area of the prevention of critical conditions which explained 3.44% (R = .1854) of the total varience of such care.
