This thesis aims to study concepts and techniques in Thai thematic short stories from 1932 to 1941 in order to characterize concepts and techniques of expressing them in Thai thematic short stories from 1932 to 1941. The results of the study show that the most dominant theme in Thai thematic short stories during the time is about love. Ranked next is the theme about women's status, life and beliefs. The theme concerning social and political affairs is hardly mentioned. The techniques used in expressing the concepts above are employed through plots, directly through authors or through characters. These techniques bring out the concepts presented in Thai thematic short stories during 1932 to 1941 quite simple, straight forward, fully displayed, leaving the readers with a clear understanding of what the authors wish to present. Studying only Thai thematic short stories is not capable to make clear the characteristics of Thai short stories during 1932 to 1941. It is therefore proposed that other forms of short stories ; for example, the plot-centered, the character-centered and the atmosphere-centered be also studied as well as those after the year 1941 in order to see the whole evolution of Thai short stories.
